The rainbow-colored Danxia stretches across the Gobi Desert in Zhangye, Gansu. It is mainly formed from Cretaceous 'red layers' dating from 135 million to 65 million years ago, shaped by tectonic movements, running water, and wind erosion. Over hundreds of millions of years, the rock layers have been sculpted to display brilliant colors like red, orange, yellow, and green, resembling a painter's palette spilled across the earth. Among the undulating ravines, light and shadows shift, creating scenes that are both grand and dreamlike, fully showcasing the majestic poetic beauty of Northwest China.
